"Forever" review by Miss Funkyflyy

"Forever" marks the end of Osiris' nearly eleven year long hiatus from the recording business. This Washington, D.C. based singer, songwriter and musician is in my opinion one the most underrated talents of our time and I have looked forward to his "come-back" with much anticipation. I'm glad to say that even though his past efforts has made me expect a lot, Osiris has not let me down with this new CD. The three new songs are absolutely rippling with quality and has "quiet storm" written all over them. There's a truly timeless feel to Osiris' work. In fact, the thing that struck me first was that this easily could have been written during the great Soul era of the sixties and early seventies, back when Soul was still called Soul and nothing else. My favorite is "Dreamin"; a gorgeous, laid-back, mid-tempo ballad with an intricate bass-line and a beautiful flute solo from Peggy "Magic" Turney. Osiris' vocal delivery is as impressive as always and his voice also shines on the sensual "Touch Me" and "Wynds of Tyme", which has a strong melody and great chord progressions. This CD single is probably quite hard to find in an ordinary record shop, since it's an independent release, but it can be ordered for $10.71 ($13.71 outside the U.S.) The prices include tax and shipping.
